ABOUT THE PROCESS
Here at Evolution Masks, we bring to life the most realistic silicone masks possible by using the most modern, state of the art process in digital & practical effects.
By using revolutionary digital technology and techniques, we are able to pool together some of the worlds most talented artists to help create our products. Each one of our products are hand crafted with an extreme amount of detail and passion.
While other silicone mask companies create their masks from clay sculptures, we use digital sculptures to achieve the highest detail and realism possible. For example, we are able to pull skin textures and other features from 3D head scans and even use 3D scans of real people to create some of our masks! This level of detail and realism is just not possible using traditional clay sculptures.
HD SCULPTURE
Creating our silicone masks starts out with creating a extremely detailed sculpture using the best digital software on the market. We typically spend 50 hours, sometimes more, to create the highest detailed sculpture possible. No detail is left untouched. This means your mask will have ultra realistic details, even down to the skin pores! This results in a final product that is unmatched in realism.
MOLD & CASTING
Once the sculpture is complete, the molding process begins. This step typically takes around 300 hours to complete and prepare the mold pieces for a mask. Once finished, the molds are prepared for casting. Platinum grade silicone is mixed with pigments and injected into the mold to create the unpainted mask. The unpainted casting is cleaned up, has the seamline removed and covered, and then ready for paint.
PAINTING & HAIR
All of our silicone masks are painted and detailed using techniques pioneered for the film industry. Layers of translucent colors are added to achieve an insane level of detail. This process creates a visually stunning masterpiece that is extremely realistic. After the painting process, we add another layer of silicone to protect and enhance, and finish it off with a matte or glossy coat depending on the character. For masks with hair, we use special needles to insert individual strands of hair for a hyper realistic effect!
